Harry Clay was the husband of Betty Massey. Betty was the daughter of Cole Massey and Emma Hayes Clemmons. Betty is also the first cousin of Jo (Clemmons) Smith of Lebanon, TN.

Burial services for Mr. Clay will be private for the family.

Mr. Clay died Monday, Oct. 3, 2011 at his residence. He was born in London, England and worked as a mechanical engineer after his training at General Motors Vauxhall in England. He came to Lebanon to work at Ross Gear TRW in 1964. He later moved to Michigan and joined Ford Motor Company in Dearborn. The latter years were spent consulting on various engineering jobs, mostly those associated with automobile projects.

Survivors include: wife of 46 years, Betty Massey Clay; children, David (Susie) and Mark Clay, both of Lebanon, and Julia Ann (John) Van Gemert of Spokane, Wash.; grandchildren, Jessica Clay, Emma Cole, Greta, and Clay Van Gemert; step-grandson, Chris (Crissy) Bowhannan; and sister, Barbara Clay Pearce in England.

Anyone wishing to make a donation in Mr. Clay’s memory is requested to direct it to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
